Awards season is the gift that keeps on giving this winter. The 77th Golden Globe Awards are almost here to usher in the new year, which means it's only a matter of time before we find out which shows, performers, and behind-the-scenes talent will be competing for the Hollywood Foreign Press Association's shiny trophies.

The nominations for the Golden Globes will be announced by stars Tim Allen, Susan Kelechi Watson, and Dakota Fanning on Monday, Dec. 9, starting at 8 a.m. ET/5 a.m. PT. The first group of categories will be announced starting at 8:04 a.m., while the second round will be announced at 8:15 a.m. You can stream the nomination announcement via the video above, tune in via the Golden Globes' official Facebook page, or watch on the Golden Globes website.

Ricky Gervais to Host the Golden Globes for Fifth and 'Very Last' Time

The 2020 Golden Globe Awards will air Sunday, Jan. 5 on NBC. The ceremony will be hosted by Ricky Gervais, who previously emceed the big event in 2010, 2011, 2012, and 2016. In a statement, Gervais said that this will be his final time hosting the Golden Globes, which he suggested "could make for a fun evening." Indeed, in a recent promotional video for the show, he broke script and sprayed champagne all over the place.

We'll have to wait and find out which films and television series impressed the HFPA the most this year, especially after all of the surprises of the 2019 Primetime Emmy Awards. Will Fleabag run away with the trophies at this event, too? Will shows like Schitt's Creek and Pose also get much-deserved nods? Will Game of Thrones, which hasn't always been a favorite of the HFPA, get one last shot at winning best drama series after five previous nominations? We'll see! All we know for now is that Tom Hanks will be honored with the year's Cecil B. DeMille Award, while Ellen DeGeneres will receive the Carol Burnett Award. After you've taken down your holiday decor and broken your first resolution, get those ballots ready!

The Golden Globe nominees will be announced Monday, Dec. 9 at 8 a.m. ET/5 a.m. PT.

The 77th Annual Golden Globe Awards will air live on NBC on Sunday, Jan. 5 at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT.
