Game of Thrones' Ellie Kendrick Won't Rule Out the Possibility That Jon & Meera Are Twins

Ellie Kendrick, who plays Meera Reed on Game of Thrones, may not go on Reddit (she hates spoilers), but she's still familiar with the fan theory that Meera and Jon Snow (Kit Harington) are secret siblings. And she told TVGuide.com that since she has no idea what's going to happen in the future on Game of Thrones, she's not ruling it out.

For the uninitiated, the theory posits that Meera and Jon are twins who were separated when Ned Stark and her father Howland Reed found Ned's sister Lyanna dying in the Tower of Joy after giving birth to twins. Ned took the boy to raise as his own, while Howland took the girl. Those babies grew up to be Jon Snow and Meera Reed, who have similar hair on the TV show.

This theory was mostly disproven in Season 6 when there was no baby girl present in the Tower of Joy, but maybe Meera just wasn't shown in the episode for storytelling reasons yet to be revealed and she's actually in the line of succession for the Iron Throne, too, since she would also be the offspring of the prince Rhaegar Targaryen.

Kendrick, who spoke to TVGuide.com at the "Game of Thrones Behind the Scenes" event celebrating the release of the Season 6 DVD last month, knows the theory and is skeptical of its veracity now that we know the truth about Jon Snow's parents, but isn't willing to entirely rule it out, either.

"I genuinely don't know," she says, "because most of the time we don't get told anything, because they know the actors can't keep secrets, so I actually have no idea. I haven't been told it's true or it's not true." [ed. note -- Game of Thrones actors are actually extremely good at keeping secrets.]

"I suspect it might not be," she says, "and I also think that the theory only started to come about when we were cast and people were like, 'oh, they both have curly hair,' but who knows? I never rule anything out with this show, because they surprise you at every turn."

So maybe Jon and Meera are secret twins and Game of Thrones has been bamboozling us this whole time.
