This will be music to SNL fans' ears — literally.

Fred Armisen will re-team with his former castmate Seth Meyers as the leader of the Late Night band, Meyers announced Monday on Twitter.

Jay Leno's most memorable TV moments

"Fred will curate and lead the band, and continue to run it even when he's off shooting Portlandia," Meyers said in reference to Armisen's other gig as star and executive producer of the IFC comedy series. Meyers referred to the band as "8GBand" in his tweet, a reference to Studio 8G, where Late Night will film, and which is next door to Studio 8H, which is the longtime home of SNL.

Before switching gears to acting, Armisen played drums in the punk rock band Trenchmouth and in the Blue Man group back in the 1990s. He also often played musical instruments during sketches on SNL. Armisen most recently returned to Brooklyn Nine-Nineand SNL to help say goodbye to Meyers on his last show.

Late Night with Seth Meyers debuts on Monday, Feb. 24 at 11:35/10:35c on NBC. How do you think Armisen will do?
