Scandal's Josh Malina to Guest-Star on Halle Berry Series Extant

Scandal star Josh Malina may not have been on the other end of Jake's gun a few weeks back, but the actor has landed a gig on another series.

The actor will guest-star on CBS' new summer series Extant, E! News reports.

How I Met Your Mother: A timeline of craziness

Executive-produced by Steven Spielberg, the mystery thriller stars Halle Berry asa female astronaut who tries to reconnect with her family after spending a year in outer space. Malina will scrub in as Dr. Scott Beck, the lead doctor in an emergency room of the near-future. Known for his blunt bedside manner, Dr. Beck has to deliver some chilling news to Berry's character, Molly Woods. 

Goran Visnjic, Camryn Manheim and Grace Gummer will also star.

In addition to his work as David Rosen on ABC's hit drama, Malina is known for his roles on Sports Nightand The West Wing.

Extant premieres on Wednesday, July 9 at 9/8c on CBS.
