Emilia Clarke Has a Vision for Nudity Equality on Game of Thrones

If Daenerys Targaryen ascended to the Iron Throne, she would order "all the pretty boys" to "take their trousers down"

Emilia Clarke, who plays Daenerys Targaryen, Mother of Dragons, on HBO's Game of Thrones, became well known in Season 1 for her frequent nude scenes, but as of Season 5 (and probably Season 6), she doesn't do them anymore. She's not against them, though, as long as they're tasteful. And in an interview with Glamour, she fantasized about a version of Game of Thrones in which Daenerys orders more male nudity.

Asked by Jonah Weiner what she would write if she were authoring Game of Thrones fan fiction, Clarke said, "I want to see Daenerys and her three dragons share the throne. Eat goat they've barbecued. And bring back all the pretty boys, get them to take their trousers down, and be like, 'I'm now the queen of everything! I'd like close-ups of all the boys' penises, please.'"

There was a lot of discussion of male anatomy in the interview. Weiner asked about the show's gender imbalance, why viewers see so much female nudity but never, for example, her late husband Khal Drogo's (Jason Momoa) penis.

"Oh, I did," she responded. "I saw his member, but it was covered in a pink fluffy sock. Showing it would make people feel bad. It's too fabulous."

And just like that, every opening day screening of Aquamansold out, two years in advance.

This is just one lighthearted piece of Clarke's frank discussion of feminism in the interview. She also talks about what she learned from her business executive mother, the show's depiction of rape, and women watching the show. Best of all, they don't mention Jon Snow once.
