According to Deadline, the decision comes after producer Sony Pictures TV found a new financial model that Lifetime could approve of.

Over the course of its run on Lifetime, the dramedy has developed a loyal fanbase with its fourth season averaging over 2 million viewers. Since news of the cancellation, Drop Dead Diva fans have continued campaigning to keep the show on air.Drop Dead Diva is not the first show to be revived after cancellation. AMC's The Killingfound new life in January and Sony TV had previously resurrected Unforgettable, Damagesand Breaking In.
