The fourth season of Downton Abbey is fast approaching, but in light of how it left off, will you tune in?

Did Downton Abbey go too far? Why we're angry with the Season 3 finale
For three seasons, the British period drama has held viewers worldwide spellbound, but for some, that spell was broken with the tragic events of the Season 3 finale. After an idyllic visit to the hospital in which Downton heir Matthew Crawley (Dan Stevens) visited his wife Mary (Michelle Dockery) and their newborn son George, Matthew perished suddenly in an auto accident on the way home.
The death of a main character is nothing new on TV, and not on Downton Abbey either. But it was the timing and manner of his death, and more importantly who died that sent fans into an irate tizzy: "Matthew and Mary's relationship was the heart of the show! Downton Abbey is supposed to be a safe place of fantasy set in a class-conscious reality!"
Downton Abbey Season 4 scoop on Lady Mary, London and more

Despite the outrage, life, and Dowton Abbey, go on. Has enough time passed to allow viewers to get over their feelings of anger, disillusionment and betrayal? Are fans psyched to enter the Jazz Age and see Lady Edith (Laura Carmichael) finally come into her own? The ratings will tell. Downton Abbey premieres its fourth season across the pond on ITV in September and in America on Sunday, Jan. 5 on PBS' Masterpiece.
