Diane Sawyer to Interview Amanda Knox

Amanda Knox, the exchange student who was convicted of murdering her roommate in Italy in 2007 and saw the conviction overturned four years later, will sit down for an interview with Diane Sawyer, according to the Hollywood Reporter. It will be the first time Knox has been interviewed since returning to the United States in October 2011.

The interview will air on ABC News on April 30 at 10 p.m., according to the report. The same day, Knox will publish a book about being held in an Italian prison for nearly four years following her arrest.

Meredith Kercher, Knox's roommate in a student exchange program in Perugia, Italy, was found stabbed to death in the apartment the two shared in Nov. 2007. In 2008, Italian resident Rudy Guede was convicted of murdering and sexually assaulting Kercher, but prosecutors said Knox and her boyfriend, Raffaele Sollecito, also had a hand in her death.

Knox and Sollecito were both found guilty of murder and sentenced to more than 20 years in prison, but were freed in October 2011, when the conviction was overturned on appeal, based on lack of evidence.
