David Arquette is apologizing to his wife Courteney after a perhaps-too-forthcoming radio interview on Howard Stern.

"I went on Howard Stern yesterday to provide clarity and honesty about what I'm experiencing, but while doing that I shared too much," Arquette wrote on his Twitter page Wednesday.

Courteney Cox, David Arquette split

On the show, Arquette detailed for Stern the reasons why the pair was separated. "We're not having sex, and I completely understand," the 39-year-old said. "'She says to me, 'I don't wanna be your mother anymore.'" After the appearance, Arquette tweeted, "In retrospect, some of the information I provided involved others, and for that I am sorry and humbled."

The couple, who met while filming Scream, recently split after 11 years of marriage. "The reason for this separation is to better understand ourselves and the qualities we need in a partner and for our marriage," they said in a joint statement.

Arquette continued on Twitter: "I'm sure Courteney and myself will emerge from this painful time better people for what we've learned."
