Neither rain nor an imminent exit deal stopped Conan O'Brien fans from showing their support for their favorite redheaded host.
Loyal supporters staged a rally in the rain Monday outside Hollywood's Universal Studios, where O'Brien tapes The Tonight Show, to protest NBC's treatment of the host.
Report: Conan O'Brien, NBC close to a deal
The rally was scheduled at noon local time, but crowds gathered hours beforehand, according to TMZ, which streamed video of the event. Tonight staffers handed out coffee and doughnuts, the site said, and trombonist La Bamba and the Masturbating Bear dropped by, while Andy Richter addressed the fans. O'Brien briefly hung out with the crowd, fans said.Carrying "I'm with Coco" signs and wearing red wigs, the fans also staged a fight between O'Brien and Jay Leno impersonators, and loudly booed the faux Leno, who later screamed as his chin hung off. They also did a sendup of Leno's "Jaywalking" bit.Rallies were also held Monday in New York outside NBC's Rockefeller Center headquarters and in Chicago outside the local NBC station.O'Brien's exit deal is expected to be finalized soon.
