It's not The Bob Newhart Show, but close: Conan O'Brien is looking to bring Bob's New Heart Show to television.
Fox has ordered the comedy script, from O'Brien's Conaco production company and writer Ben Wexler. Bob's New Heart Show is a single-camera half-hour comedy about a young hotshot doctor who winds up with a heart transplant (yes, that's Bob's New Heart). After that life-altering event, the doctor re-evaluates his life and decides to move back to the working-class neighborhood where he grew up and take over a small family practice.
Wexler will write and executive produce the script, with O'Brien and Conaco's David Kissinger and Jeff Ross also on board as executive producers. Warner Bros. TV, where O'Brien's production company is based, is the studio.
Wexler's credits include Community, Breaking In and The Good Guys. The writer previously collaborated with O'Brien on a Fox script in 2010 called Best Friends Forever (along with fellow writers Ross Novie and Jay Rondot).
