Chelsea Handler Tells Ellen: I'll "Never Go to CBS"

Chelsea Handler wants to put a stop to the reports that she's getting her own show on CBS. "I would never be on a regular network," Handler, who currently hosts Chelsea Lately on E!, told Ellen DeGeneres Thursday. "I would never do that to my fans or to myself or to the network."

Speculation began when Handler tweeted a photo of her dog sitting on her lap. Also on her lap? Papers with the CBS logo prominently displayed. With Chelsea Lately wrapping up after eight seasons, fans began wondering whether Handler was in talks with the network.

Is Chelsea Handler heading to CBS?

"I was in a meeting about something completely different," Handler explained on The Ellen DeGeneres Show. "I would never go to CBS. My mouth — what would they do with me there?"

Handler also weighed in on the recent news that Stephen Colbert will take over as host of The Late Show once David Letterman retires in 2015. "Stephen Colbert's fake persona is more respectable than my real persona," she told Ellen. "So I think he's the perfect person for that job."

But as for the prospect of her moving to Comedy Central to replace Colbert, Handler also demurred. "I don't want to take a job that somebody else has already done," she said. "I think it's time to move on. ... I want a vacation and sleep."
