The hit USA Network dramedies brought back a trio of well-seasoned character actors in showcase roles. First, on Psych
, William Devane
) and Carl Weathers
(aka Apollo Creed from the Rocky
movies and "Carl Weathers" in Arrested Development
) sparkled as Peters and Boone, a pair of old-school San Diego ex-cops who managed to stay one Bruno Magli loafer's step ahead of Shawn (James Roday
) and Gus (Dule Hill
) on a multiple-murder case. The joke was that Peters and Boone were "us in 30 years," as Shawn put it. Hope we don't have to wait that long for this dynamic duo's return to Psych
.One night later, John Amos
) checked into Royal Pains
as a legendary surgeon diagnosed with emphysema, then pneumonia, although—as it turned out—he was really suffering from whooping cough. Amos, who's stayed busy in recent years with roles on The West Wing
, Men in Trees
and as Gus' uncle on Psych
, brought gravitas to the role, as well as a sense of humor; like Peters and Boone, he lacked tact when dealing with working women, referring to Dr. Emily Peck (Anastasia Griffith
) as "Blondie." With old pros like these back on the small screen, it's impossible not to have good times. Were you psyched to see Devane, Weathers and Amos again?
