Celine Dion performed a moving tribute to Paris at Sunday's American Music Awards.

Jared Leto introduced the Grammy winner's performance, calling the attacks a "horrific and senseless tragedy" and reading a letter published by Antoine Leiris, whose wife was killed in the attack on the Bataclan music venue.

"You want me to be scared to view my countrymen with mistrust," Leto read. "You lost. We are just two now, my son and me. But we are stronger than all the armies in the world."

Dion then covered Edith Piaf's "Hymne a L'amour" in front of a series of Parisian landmarks, moving many in the audience to tears and earning a standing ovation.
