Cate Blanchett will star as Hollywood icon Lucille Ball in a biopic penned by Aaron Sorkin (The West Wing, The Newsroom), TheWrap reports.
The movie will trace Ball's marriage to her I Love Lucy co-star Desi Arnaz, and is being produced by their two children, Lucie Arnaz and Desi Arnaz Jr. Ball and Arnaz were married for 20 years before they divorced in 1960.
Ball died in 1989 at age 77; Arnaz died in 1986 at age 69.
Blanchett is a two-time Oscar winner, including Best Supporting Actress for playing Katharine Hepburn in The Aviator. (The other was Best Actress for 2014's Blue Jasmine.) Sorkin is also an Academy Award recipient, for his Social Network script. Most recently, he wrote the script for the upcoming biopic Steve Jobs, which stars Michael Fassbender as the Apple co-founder.
Do you think Blanchett will make a good Lucy?
