Two writers have the keys to ABC's Castle next season.

On the heels of the show's Season 8 renewal, Alexi Hawley and Terence Paul Winter will take over as co-showrunners, TVGuide.com has learned. They will replace David Amann, who stepped down recentlyafter taking the reins from creator Andrew W. Marlowe at the end of Season 6.

Hawley, who wrote episodes in Seasons 2, 3 and 4, previously served as an executive story editor, co-producer and producer before moving on to such shows as Body of Proof and the recently canceled The Following. Winter, a long-time producer on the show, has written 13 episodes over the past five seasons.

Although the show has been renewed and star Nathan Fillion has signed on to return, negotiations continue for leading lady Stana Katic. The statuses of the supporting cast's contracts also remain unclear.
