Legend of the Seeker's Bridget Regan Feels First-Time Backlash on Beauty and the Beast

Bridget Regan is used to having rabid fans from her cult syndicated series Legend of the Seeker. She was not prepared, however, for the backlash she'd face on Beauty and the Beast. "I can't look at Twitter anymore!" Regan told TVGuide.com. "I just got this one: 'Bridget. Just wanted to let you know I enjoy you on Beauty and the Beast even though lots of fans want you gone. Not many people like Alex.' I understand why people don't like Alex, I suppose, but I can't really look anymore."

Beauty and the Beast Star Jay Ryan: Cat and Vincent will finally kiss - and do a lot more

Regan recently joined the series for a multi-episode arc playing the ex-fiancée of Vincent (Jay Ryan). Unaware of Vincent's beast alter ego, all she knows is that she's been reunited with the love of her life who she thought died in the war. But this isn't a blissful reunion for the fans. Alex's entrance signaled a stalling in the developing romance between Vincent and Catherine (Kristin Kreuk). While Vincent says he'll tell Alex the truth on an upcoming trip, Alex has a different idea of what the getaway means for them.

"Alex takes Vincent away for the weekend to her family cabin where they have a lot of special memories," Regan says. "Alex is really trying to pick up where they left off.  He was the love of her life and she never really let go, so right now she's really trying to take it to the next level and she's willing to do anything for him."

Hot, hot, hot winter TV eye candy

But before anything can happen, romantically or otherwise, Muirfield, the group that created and eradicated the beasts years ago, comes a knocking.

"Alex is very swiftly swept up into this world that Vincent can't really tell her about, although she ends up seeing with her own eyes, so you can imagine she's devastated," Ryan told us. "What really gets Vincent is that Alex really becomes a target for Muirfield." Adds Regan, "Alex is not prepared for the reality of who Vincent is."

Whether Alex makes it out alive, Regan is glad that her Seeker fans are, at least, on her side. "I'm happy that if the Seekers hadn't already found Beauty and the Beast, they have now. The two shows have some similarities where [the main theme is] a tragic a love story: They want to be together and they can't."

Beauty and the Beast airs on Thursdays at 9/8c on The CW.
