More than a week after suffering a brain hemorrhage, Bret Michaels is in stable condition, according to a statement on his website.

In the first public statement since the 47-year-old Poison frontman was hospitalized last Thursday, doctors at the St. Joseph's Hospital and Medical Center in Phoenix said Michaels' condition is still serious. But the doctors applauded the singer and Celebrity Apprentice contestant for his "undeniable" will to live.

Bret Michaels responding "well" to treatment, plans tour dates

"Mr. Michaels will continue to undergo testing, considering we have hit a few roadblocks including hyponatremia, severe cranial and back pain suffered from blood drainage," said Dr. Joseph Zabramski, the leading physician on Michaels' team. "He has an unbelievable fight in him. ... It was a combination of Bret's fight to stay conscious during the hemorrhage and get to the emergency room, and the immediate medical attention provided by our staff at Barrow that enabled us to stabilize his condition."

The name of Michaels' hospital and doctors had not been disclosed earlier due to the severity of his condition. Michaels' team of neurologists and neurosurgeons will hold a news conference on Tuesday at 2/1c to discuss his updated condition, treatment and prognosis.
