Box Office: Transformers 4 Has Biggest Debut of 2014

Shia, who? Transformers: Age of Extinction opened to the tune of $100 million this weekend, cruising to No. 1 at the box office and setting a record for the highest-grossing debut of 2014, Box Office Mojo reports.

Shia, who? Transformers: Age of Extinction opened to the tune of $100 million this weekend, cruising to No. 1 at the box office and setting a record for the highest-grossing debut of 2014, Box Office Mojo reports.

The fourth installment in the Transformers franchise, the first without former franchise star Shia LaBeouf, also earned more than $200 million in foreign markets. The film the second-highest opening in the franchise, behind 2009'sRevenge of the Fallen (which, it should be noted, opened mid-week).

Sequels 22 Jump Street and How to Train Your Dragon 2 held steady at second and third place, with $15.4 million and $13.1 million respectively. Last week's No. 1 movie, Think Like a Man Too, suffered a drop-off of more than 64 percent and fell to No. 4 with $10.4 million.

Maleficent also held steady in fifth place with $8.2 million, while Jersey Boysfell two spots to No. 6 with $7.6 million.

At No. 7 was Edge of Tomorrow with $5.2 million.

Rounding out the Top 10 were The Fault in Our Stars (No. 8, $4.8 million), X-Men: Days of Future Past (No. 9, $3.3 million) and Chef (No. 10, $1.6 million).
