It's been over a year sinceBlack Pantherdebuted and broke multiple box office records, but at long last, we finally have the announcement we've known was coming all been waiting for!

Marvel boss Kevin Feige confirmed at D23 Expo 2019 on Saturday that Black Panther 2 is officially on the books of Phase Four of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, meaning we can finally start fantasizing about returning to Wakanda! The movie is scheduled to be released May 6, 2022. Ryan Coogler, who co-wrote and directed the first film, is returning to write and direct the second, and he confirmed that the movie won't actually be titled Black Panther 2, so keep your eyes peeled for potential title releases in the future!

Every Marvel Movie Expected to Come Out After 2021, Including Blade

Though we didn't learn many details about the sequel, we're confidently speculating that, like Spider-Man: Far From Home, this new movie will be set after the notorious "blip" that occurred between the end of Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame. What we do know that is that several original cast members besides franchise star Chadwick Boseman have been rumored to return for the film's sequel, including Lupita Nyong'o, Danai Gurira, Letitia Wright, Daniel Kaluuya, Angela Bassett, and Martin Freeman.

Black Panther 2 will hit theaters May 6, 2022.
