Ben Stiller Develops Family Comedy at ABC

Ben Stiller is getting in the family way at ABC. Stiller's production company has sold the multi-generational half-hour sitcom Between Two Kings to the network, which will develop the script with an eye toward next fall. Jeff Kahn, whose credits include The Ben Stiller Show and Crackle's digital series The Writers Room, will write the comedy and executive produce with Stiller. Between Two Kings centers on a divorced dad with sole custody of his 11-year-old son who wind up moving in with the man's ailing father. The lead character, torn between a narcissistic father and demanding son, must still find time run a business and re-enter the dating scene.

Stiller's Red Hour Television will produce along with ABC Studios. Debbie Liebling and Stuart Cornfield are also executive producers. Stiller's TV team have had a busy development season, with four comedies currently in the works at ABC, including one starring Bonnie Hunt and another loosely based on his own life.
