Has The Bachelor Jumped the Shark?

Did The Bachelor jump the shark with Ali's abrupt exit stage left? "I'm going to go right on a limb and say no," host Chris Harrison told TVGuide.com. "But you know, I think the great thing about the show is people are deeply disappointed and upset that she's gone."

Did The Bachelor jump the shark with Ali's abrupt exit stage left?

"I'm going to go right on a limb and say no," host Chris Harrison told TVGuide.com. "But you know, I think the great thing about the show is people are deeply disappointed and upset that she's gone."

The Bachelor's terrible track record: A history of failed romances

Fans groaned Monday when Ali, a 25-year-old advertising account manager, told bachelor Jake Pavelka that she had to leave the show for her job. The scenario recalled the latest edition of The Bachelorette, in which Ed Swiderski quit the show for his job, only to return and become Jillian Harris' final pick.

Previews for future Bachelor episodes show Ali — you guessed it — ringing up Jake to get back in touch.

"I take umbrage in people saying, 'Oh, she pulled an Ed, we've seen this before, don't you guys have new tricks?' And it's like, these aren't tricks," Harrison told TVGuide.com. He called the exits "a sign of the times and how important a job is."
