Amazing Race's Nicky and Kim: We Didn't Stand a Chance After We Got U-Turned

There's no crying in baseball — or on The Amazing Race mat. Baseball wives Nicky and Kim kept their tears in check after their elimination on Sunday's episode because "we knew it was coming." "Phil [Keoghan] was like, 'Why aren't you crying?' And we were like, 'Well, we've had some time to digest that we're out!" Kim tells TVGuide.com. "We had a Speed Bump and got U-Turned. Once we got U-Turned, we knew it was over." But are they upset that Tim and Marie U-Turned them? Find out below.

Amazing Race's Tim and Danny: The singing caught everybody off-guard

How far behind were you?
Kim:
Probably 45 minutes.Nicky: Yeah. I think the camel Roadblock was easier than the cooking one, and we chose the cooking one at the same time Ally and Ashley chose the camel. I think they finished that one pretty quickly, so we were already behind from that. And on top of the U-Turn, we had the Speed Bump, so it was almost an hour. How long did the Speed Bump take since you're afraid of heights, Kim?
Kim:
I definitely sat there a little bit acting like a wuss. I was pretty nervous, but it was fine. It actually didn't take that long once we jumped in the water. It was just a matter of swimming across, and it was really hard to pull yourself up the ladder because the waves were crashing. I thought they were going to crash my skull into the cement wall. Once we got through it, Nicky did so well on the rafting. We did everything good. Had we not missed that yacht in the previous leg, I don't think we would've been eliminated this leg. It's funny how it works out. We think we did a good job overall. We had so much fun. Were you surprised that you were U-Turned?
Nicky:
I was actually pretty surprised because I think going in to that leg, everyone knew that we were in last place. For me, I would've thought that people would U-Turn someone else because we would be behind. But I think when Tim and Marie ended up running way out of the way, they didn't know their status and they U-Turned us to put a buffer on them, which I understand. We didn't expect it, but we didn't rule it out.I can't believe that no one ever U-Turned Tim and Marie. There were four chances to.
Nicky:
Looking back, somebody probably should've U-Turned them the first time! [Laughs] I kind of am surprised. A lot of teams had issues, not with them individually, but it was a little stressful being around negative energy. Nobody really appreciates negative energy. But whatever. They didn't get U-Turned. They got lucky.

Amazing Race's Brandon and Adam: It made sense to change Detours

What do you think of the doctors U-Turning the Afghanimals just because they lied?
Nicky:
I think that was fair. There was no reason for the Afghanimals to lie to them. I just feel like in the Race, you just do certain things. Like when Kim and I were in the airport and people were mad that we got first on the wait list, I think these are smart moves. I feel like had the Afghanimals been honest, like, "Yeah, we had to U-Turn them otherwise we would've lost," it would've been fine. I don't think Nicole and Travis would've U-Turned them if they were honest.Marie was convinced you cut in front of them in line to get on the standby list first. Have you talked to her about it since the episode aired?
Kim:
It's all water under the bridge now. When we're racing, it's more competitive. We joked around about it. We were in the right doing what we did. We didn't cut.  We found an agent and got on the list first. I think after watching the episode, she would agree. Amy and Jason were both like, "The bunnies were telling the truth." They thought we just went up and said, "Put us on first." But we legitimately, rightfully were first.I feel like they just underestimated you guys. They didn't think to look around.
Kim:
Thank you! [Laughs] I feel like we know our way around the airport. We kind of surprised ourselves, I think. You go in as an all-girl team and you have a little anxiety about it because we didn't have the male strength for physical challenges, but we didn't need it. We were great. A lot of it was mental and we came to the mental challenges prepared. Nicky is so smart.Nicky: You're smart, Kim! It's so funny when you actually watch the Race. It's the smallest thing that can get you kicked off. It's like, had we not gotten U-Turned, we could've still been in it. You could do everything right and something that you can't control goes wrong. There's nothing you can do about that.Do you think it's fair to have a Double U-Turn on a leg after a non-elimination? U-Turning the team with the Speed Bump would effectively eliminate them, which is what happened to you.
Kim:
I feel like Double U-Turns, you're just screwed. I don't necessarily think it's unfair because everything is fair game on the Race. You're not going to win $1 million easily. It's good to make it competitive, but it's not fun to be on the receiving end of it.Nicky: I just wish that Tim and Marie considered that we had a Speed Bump and gave us a chance to be in the Race. A Speed Bump and a U-Turn? C'mon. It's over! We didn't stand a chance!

25 unnecessary spin-offs

What are you up to now?
Kim:
I'm actually on my way to an audition. Just working and playing with my son and enjoying the off-season and loving life.Nicky: We just bought a house in Michigan, so we're just getting settled. The off-season is always a great time to spend time with our families.Kim: I actually got a call to go South Africa today. Nicky doesn't even know that! [Laughs] I'm on call for a job. Hopefully I'll get it and I'll be on a whole other adventure.Nicky: That sounds awesome!(Full disclosure: TVGuide.com is owned by CBS.)
