twilight zone
A classic anthology of sci-fi, suspense and goose-bump-inducing tales that explore 'a fifth dimension beyond that which is known to man.' Filled with invention and irony, the stories are tightly constructed, ingenious flights of imagination with often cautionary themes---and frequently a terrific twist at the end. Host and prolific writer Rod Serling penned most of the episodes himself. Influential and often (poorly) imitated, the series was resurrected twice, in 1985 on CBS and in 2002 on UPN.

Leonardo DiCaprios production company Appian Way and Warner Bros are on the lookout for material for a feature-length spin on the classic TV series The Twilight ZoneAccording to The Hollywood Reporter the studio and production company are quietly seeking out pitches and scripts for development However rather than follow the formula of the last big-screen attempt in 1983 which served as a remake of three episodes the companies hope to build one continuing storyline based on one or more of the old episodesWarner Bros owns the rights to the episodes written by Rod Serling which makes up the majority of the series five-year run Other attempts to update the show include CBS 1994 TV movie and a short-lived series on UPN in 2002 DiCaprios interest is most likely based on the fact that he has cited The Twilight Zone as his favorite show Are you ready to get in the Zone Adam Bryant read more be the first to leave a comment
  • CBS to Stream TV Classics Online, Too | Today's News: Our Take | 2/21/2008
Network see, network do. Coming on the heels of NBC's decision to offer classic TV shows over a group of websites, CBS has announced plans to upload full episodes from their programming vaults on the more than 300 sites that make up the CBS Audience Network. The network is kicking off the venture by offering the three seasons of Star Trek: The Original Series, Seasons 1 and 2 of The Twilight Zone, and the first seasons of MacGyver, Hawaii Five-O and Melrose Place on CBS.com and the sites of partners such as AOL, Microsoft, CNET Networks and Comcast.Unlike NBC, which opted to place its programming on network-owned genre sites, CBS is operating under the same open, non-exclusive strategy the network has been using for the past nine months. More programs and clips will be added to the initial lineup in the coming months. — Adam BryantUse TVGuide.com's Online Video Guide to search for clips as well as entire episodes of your favorite television shows, both past and present. • I know it's a little late, ... | Matt Roush | 9/10/2007
Question: I know it's a little late, but I'd like to address the Emmy nominations. I think that Elizabeth Mitchell definitely was robbed of a Best Supporting Actress in a Drama Series nod for Lost. Her work has been top-notch, and Juliet emerged as my favorite character this Lost season. Cheers for Michael Emerson and Terry O'Quinn on their nominations. They — especially Emerson as the enigmatic and chilling Ben — deserve it. But the person who perhaps deserves an Emmy nomination most of all, and who never gets noticed, is John Terry. Terry is such a fantastic (and underrated) actor, he actually makes you feel empathetic for Jack's father when you know you should be rooting for Jack. Lost definitely should've been nominated as a series, because the writing, directing and acting were excellent this past season (let's just forget about the prehiatus episodes and "Stranger in a Strange Land"). Once again, though, the Emmy nominations were utterly predictable. On another Lost topic, many ... read more
  • A Push for Pushing Daisies | Matt Roush | 7/26/2007
Could the third time be the charm? Being an eternal optimist when it comes to TV shows I love, I certainly hope so. For the third season in a row, the show I’ve picked as my favorite pilot of the fall season is on ABC, and once again, after two consecutive seasons of my pick failing to make the grade, this show’s projected success is far from a slam dunk. But let me tell you why I believe, despite all logical skepticism to the contrary, that the dazzling “forensic fairy tale” called Pushing Daisies has a shot at making it.First, here’s why my earlier picks didn’t pan out. For one thing, both shows — Invasion in 2005, The Nine in 2006 — had the mixed fortune of being scheduled directly after Lost. (As we’ve learned, the Lost viewing experience is so intense and its fan base so obsessed that it’s pure folly to put any show, especially a demanding one, after Lost.) Both shows were also exceedingly dark in tone, whereas Pushing Daisies... read more
