Revolutionary War adventure focusing on real-life South Carolina patriot Francis Marion, a role Mel Gibson re-created some four decades later in `The Patriot.' Two series (eight episodes in all) aired on `Walt Disney Presents,' one in 1959, the other in 1960-61, but it didn't come close to matching the success of Disney's Davy Crockett series. Written by TV action veteran Lewis R. Foster (`The Adventures of Jim Bowie,' `Zorro'). Star Leslie Nielsen also sang the theme song.
