Premise: A miniseries chronicling the first-century clash between Jewish freedom fighters and a Roman legion that besieged them at a mountaintop Judean fortress. Reminiscent of `Roots' and `Shogun' in sweep and substance, the drama was stunningly photographed in Israel and plays on the emotions and the intellect as it combines historical action with politics.
