A long-running British serial charting the ups and downs of London's East End working class who reside in the fictitious neighborhood of Albert Square. `EastEnders,' which became an instant favorite on the BBC with its debut on Feb. 19, 1985, launched in the U.S. with Tracey Ullman on hand to clue American audiences in on the show's 23 regular characters, as well as to help translate some of the Cockney slang.
