While the terrorists prepare to make their big move, Jack tries to get President Hassan and his family to a safer location — though that's easier said than done.

As the hour opens, Jack is getting bandaged up and refusing painkillers, despite the fact that he may have broken some ribs and could now be susceptible to a collapsed lung. Just another day on the job for Jack, though. And he doesn't even get paid for this anymore!

24 Episode Recap: "2:00 AM - 3:00 AM" Season 8, Episode 9

In a classic 24-style surprise, we learn that the seemingly innocent Tarin is actually working hand-in-hand with the terrorists trying to thwart President Hassan's plans and set off a dirty bomb in New York City.

As the hour starts, we learn more about another terrorist, crazy-eyed Marcos, and his reasons for becoming, well, a crazy-eyed terrorist. Apparently, his professor father was jailed by President Wayne Palmer's administration for suspected ties to a radical Kamistani organization, and eventually committed suicide as a result of the fallout.

Using this information, Jack does his best to convince Marcos that helping the terrorists isn't the best way to honor his father's memory, but he won't be reasoned with, telling Jack: "I came here prepared to die, and that's what's gonna happen."

The final two hours of 24 involve Jack Bauer's attempt to assassinate Russian President Suvarov, the man who ordered the hit on Renee Walker. As Jack prepares his sniper rifle, Chloe and Cole attempt to locate him, lest he be discovered first by CTU and killed on sight. 24 Episode Recap: 1:00 P.M - 2:00 P.M. Season 8, Episode 19

The last regular hour of 24 finds Jack not only shooting two Secret Service agents, but kidnapping and assaulting a former President. The gloves are off now.

As the hour opens, President Taylor's press secretary is announcing that Secretary of State Ethan Kanin has stepped down for "health reasons," and that President Logan has been such a big help with this whole peace process. Watching from a private room, Logan smiles with self-satisfaction, but his moment of triumph is short-lived.

24 Episode Recap: 11:00 A.M.-12:00 P.M. Season 8, Episode 17

In this hour, Jack goes further than ever in his quest for revenge, and another 24 villain bites the dust.

This episode picks up right where the last left off, in the middle of Dalia Hassan's United Nations press conference announcing her decision to take her late husband's place and ensure the peace agreement is signed.

If there's an opposite of the U.N. building, it's the dank warehouse where private security company agent Mark Bledsoe (D.B. Sweeney) is currently giving Walsh the water board treatment. And when she won't talk, the advice he offers is chilling, but also darkly funny (if you have a sick sense of humor). "Take short and shallow breaths. You'll recover faster. That way we won't have so much downtime between sessions."

24 Episode Recap: 9:00 A.M.-10:00 A.M. Season 8, Episode 15

As the hour opens, Jack is a complete mess, and understandably so — he just saw Renee shot to death and is now wandering around the ER wearing a shirt stained with her blood. Thankfully, one of the doctors takes the initiative to grab him a new shirt and a pair of boots for his bare feet.

Once Chloe calls to offer her condolences, though, Jack snaps back into being Jack, demanding to see the recently MIA Papa Bazhaev, who is currently CTU's only lead. Chloe isn't quite so willing to circumvent the official channels and processes now that she's running CTU, but she ultimately relents and tells Jack where Bazhaev's bail hearing is being held (which, unsurprisingly, he's denied).

24 Episode Recap: "1:00 AM - 2:00 AM" Season 8, Episode 8

In this hour, Jack and company continue to pursue the nuclear rods, while President Hassan's family drama takes center stage.

As we pick up with the Ortiz/Walsh story, it's apparent that, thank the sweet Lord, KevinEx is really dead. If only we could shake Walsh so easily. With that settled, Ortiz sets to work stripping down the bad guys' van and helping Dana dispose of their bodies (in a conveniently located nearby pond). Dopey Brooklyn accent or not, the guy is loyal and clear-headed in a crisis — though his commitment to a romantic future with "Dana" is clearly in doubt at this point.

24 Episode Recap: Day 8: 4 PM-6 PM Season 8, Episode 1

Over the last couple seasons, 24 has acquired a reputation for getting a little soft and flabby in its midsection. But the long-running series never fails to deliver a taut, action-packed opener and closer, and the Season 8 premiere proves no exception.

Premise: An exciting and edgy real-time action series about U.S. counterterrorist agent Jack Bauer trying to save his country from foreign and domestic enemies in the course of 24 grueling hours (with each hour a separate episode). The series took a great concept and executed it superbly, juggling taut storylines with forceful performances and a stylish, gritty look. Which made it easier to forgive some of the more foolish and implausible subplots, many involving Jack's crisis-magnet daughter, Kim.
