There's been a teen explosion on the daytime airwaves. From the virtual summer scene at the Glow by Jabot House web site on The Young and the Restless to the super youth sleuths trying to solve Ted's murder on General Hospital, teen stories are hot. What makes adolescent antics so compelling? Soap Center, the original news and entertainment program dedicated to the soaps, aims to answer this very question with its own teen special. The show, scheduled to air Aug. 25 at 6 pm/ET on SoapNet, is a first for the series. "Teen stories and characters have moved to the forefront of soaps, and they're an exciting, driving force in the genre," says Paula Rosenthal, SoapNet's executive in charge of original production.

Emmy Award winner David Tom (Billy, Y&R), Amber Tamblyn (Emily, GH) and Erin Torpey (Jessica, OLTL guest-host the hour-long program. "There were so many stars to choose from, and we're delighted we got three of the hottest soap teens in daytime," shares Rosenthal. With their help, SoapCenter's profiles include Kirsten Storms (Belle, Days), David Lago (Raul, Y&R) and Eden Riegel (Bianca, AMC). The show also takes a trip down memory lane, revisiting some of the top teen stories of yesteryear. "It's a look at then and now, how the stories have changed, and how the teen stories have gotten in touch with the times," Rosenthal explains. "We look at individual plots and how relevant they are to teen issues today."
