Laura Wright (Cassie) isn't the only Guiding Light star jumping ship to an ABC soap. One Life to Live confirms that Jerry verDorn has won the coveted role of Viki's ex-husband, Clint Buchanan. He last airs on GL Oct. 13 and makes his debut on OLTL Oct. 25. Clint Ritchie, who played Clint for more than 20 years before retiring to his ranch in Northern California, reportedly was not approached to reprise the role.

As for verDorn, the soap vet was GL's longest-running cast member, having played Springfield attorney Ross Marler for 26 years. He was among the stars bumped from contract to recurring status after CBS slashed the sudser's budget earlier this year. Fortunately, his street cred in the small world of daytime TV meant it wasn't long before another soap snapped him up.

"I'm thrilled to add Jerry verDorn to the amazing ensemble of actors at One Life to Live," executive producer Frank Valentini tells TVGuide.com. "We are really looking forward to having Clint back on the canvas full-time, and we are so pleased to welcome such a well-respected and talented actor to our cast."
