Season 11, Episode 6 Wild Places

Host Alan Alda surveys efforts on three continents to give species of plants and animals the wild, untamed spaces they need to avert extinction. First stop: the Tallgrass Prairie Preserve in Oklahoma, a re-created prairie where buffalo once again roam. In Wyoming, it's the black-footed ferret that is being nudged back to health. Alda also visits Germany and Egypt to follow the migratory patterns of white storks, whose numbers are down 80 percent in the last century. Also, he profiles veteran conservationist Peter Raven, the director of the Missouri Botanical Garden in St. Louis.
