Eels lead singer Mark Oliver Everett investigates the father he barely knew: quantum physicist Hugh Everett III (1930-82), who formulated the Many Worlds Theory (which postulated the existence of parallel universes) in 1957. Although barely noticed at the time, the theory has since been embraced by both science fiction and scientists, including MIT physicist Max Tegmar. As his son learns, that initial rejection devastated Everett III, and spurred him to leave the field of quantum physics.
