First Aired: January 26, 1994

“Malcolm X: Make It Plain,” a 1994 profile of the charismatic Black Muslim martyr (1925-65), from the producers of the landmark PBS series “Eyes on the Prize.” Malcolm “took on America for us,” says Harlem activist Sonia Sanchez, encapsulating a combative personality formed by racial violence and crime. As seen here, his conversion to Islam rechanneled it. Interviewees include family members, actor Ossie Davis, and Alex Haley, who coauthored Malcolm's autobiography. Alfre Woodard narrates.
