WNBA fans, there's no need to adjust your TV screens this week, but don't be shocked by all the pink. As part of the women's hoops league's annual breast health awareness initiative, home teams in four nationally televised games will sport pink and white uniforms. Additionally, coaches will wear pink ties and scarves and referees will call the action with pink whistles.
The players' uniforms (as well as autographed balls from each team) will be auctioned off at wnba.com, with proceeds benefiting the Kay Yow/WBCA Cancer Fund. Yow, the iconic North Carolina State women's coach, passed away last year at age 66 after a lengthy battle with the disease.
ESPN2 will televise the following four games as part of the initiative:
Tuesday, Aug. 3
Washington Mystics at Atlanta Dream, 7:30/6:30c
Thursday, Aug. 5
Connecticut Sun at Seattle Storm, 10:30/9:30c
Saturday, Aug. 7
Minnesota Lynx at Chicago Sky, 3/2c
Tuesday, Aug. 10
Indiana Fever at Los Angeles Sparks 10/9c
