On Monday, Netflix CEO Reed Hastings told investors that he doesn't anticipate Netflix "being able to do Season 5, 6 and 7" after the comedy's upcoming Season 4 revival, according to The Hollywood Reporter. "We have less of a stake in it. It is really a fantastic one-off, which is coming together incredibly. I think it will be amazing for us, but think of it as a nonrepeatable amazing, whereas the other thing that we are doing is to trying to figure out a real mechanism where we can build shows and develop franchises over the long term. In that way, Arrested Development is a wildly successful tactic, as opposed to fundamental to the strategy."However, a rep for Netflix later clarified to HitFix that while it would be difficult to recruit the entire cast again, continuing Arrested is not out of the question, and that Netflix's chief content officer Ted Sarandos is still hopeful of doing more seasons."I think we all knew it was lightning in the bottle that we pulled it all together" [for the show's revival]," the rep said. "We're hopeful there will be more seasons. If anyone can pull it together, it's going to be Ted. But by no means is this the end of it. We're definitely planning to do more with them. We have first rights, so it's not like you'd see it anywhere else. We're absolutely hopeful there will be more."

Vote on which shows you think have worn out their welcome

It's nice to know that at least Arrested has Sarandos in their corner at Netflix, because as we all learned from Buster, when life hands you a chance with something special, you just grab that brownish area by its points and you don't let go no matter what your mom (or Hastings) says.Do you want more Arrested on Netflix?
