Andrew Lincoln Reveals Why He's Leaving The Walking Dead

When Andrew Lincoln confirmed he was leaving The Walking Dead at San Diego Comic-Con, he gave a sweet speech thanking fans for their support but he didn't say why he was leaving. He was saving that revelation to share with Entertainment Weekly.

And the reason is what we heard all along, and an unimpeachable one. Lincoln is British, and being away from his family while he filmed The Walking Dead in Georgia for most of the year was getting to be too much. "I have two young children, and I live in a different country, and they become less portable as they get older," Lincoln said on EW Radio Monday. "It was that simple. It was time for me to come home."

He also confirmed that he's wrapped on Season 9, and that his last two episodes in particular were "very satisfying."

As for the plot of Season 9, he'll say this: "The world is deteriorating. Food is scarce, the Hilltop's the main sort of food source, communications are breaking down, we don't have gas anymore and we're on horseback, and we've run out of bullets. So there is an enormous pressure on this group."

Running out of bullets sounds good to me, since unlimited ammo was problem in Season 8. Melee weapons will be a welcome, brutal change.

The Walking Dead Season 9 premieres Sunday, Oct. 7 at 9/8c on AMC.
