This fall,The Voicewill be down to just one original coach when it returns for Season 17.

Following Adam Levine's (perhaps unsurprising) departure from the series, only Blake Shelton remains of the OG quartet, which previously included the bromantic duo alongside Christina Aguilera and CeeLo Green. However, the coaching line-up for Season 17 will still be filled with show veterans. Shelton will be joined in the red chairs by John Legend, who is coming off of a win from his first season, along with two-time champ Kelly Clarkson and Gwen Stefani, who has been both a coach and team adviser in previous years. Meanwhile, Carson Daly will continue to take the stage as host, as he has done since the show began.

The formatting of the competition may be a bit different than last season as well. In Season 16, the traditional knockout rounds were bypassed in favor of the new cross battles, which allowed the coaches to choose which teams they competed against. That design backfired, as it heavily favored Shelton's team members and left Levine's group depleted, with not a single contestant making it to the semi-finals. The show's official audience ticketing site reveals that in the new season, the battle rounds will give way to the knockout rounds this year, which marks a return to form for the series after the cross battles snafu.

The Voice Season 17 will premiere on NBC on Monday, Sept. 23 at 8/7c, with the second episode of the season immediately following on Tuesday, Sept. 24 at 8/7c. From there, the show will then continue its regular time slot, with new episodes airing each Monday and Tuesday night.
