VIDEO: Stephen Colbert Meets His Match in Witty Pussy Riot Interview

Despite the language barrier, Pussy Riot more than kept up with Stephen Colbert during their appearance on his faux conservative show Colbert Report. Masha Alyokhina and Nadya Tolokonnikova, two members of the Russian punk band who were recently released from prison for insulting Vladamir Putin, proved that humor isn't necessarily lost in translation. When Colbert, who was posing as a "friend" of Putin, told the pair they would be searched before leaving the building, Tolokonnikova quickly shot back, "We've had two years of practice hiding things from searches."

Jay Leno's most memorable Tonight Show moments

Regarding Putin, the performer told Colbert, "We have different ideas about a bright future [for Russia] and we don't want a shirtless man on a horse leading us."

Tolokonnikova and Alyokhina were two of five members of the band who "sang a fun song in a church, as they put it, a performance that landed the pair in prison. The pair were released late last year in what they believe to be a PR stunt to help bolster Russia' public image before the Sochi Olympics.

"We don't think it was successful," Tolokonnikova said. "We don't think it improved the image of Russia, so maybe Putin made a mistake and should just throw us back in jail."
