"The meeting of the two of them is interesting because you have the young and old, the hungry and the bitter, and they're both extremely divisive and powerful," Ian Somerhalder says. "That's a big problem because Katherine's inclination is to kill Elena — that would be the best thing to do — because the boys want Elena to take the cure, but Katherine wants it because it's her only leverage."
