USA Orders Up More Monk

USA Network has announced that Monk will return this summer for a seventh season that will anchor an aggressive slate of new programming for the NBC-owned cable network. "You might say we were obsessed with making this deal," Jeff Wachtel, USA's executive vice president of original programming, quips, alluding to star Tony Shalhoub's obsessive-compulsive character. "It's not easy to wash your hands of a show like Monk."But will the seventh season be the show's last? "We have to be thinking of that," Wachtel says. "[Producer Andy Breckman is] starting to wrap up the show's mythology if this is, in fact, the final season." In all, USA will debut new episodes of seven series this summer, including Monk, Psych, The Starter Wife, Burn Notice, Law & Order: Criminal Intent and two new series. — Mickey O'Connor
