USA has ordered the drama Mr. Robot, from True Detective executive producer Steve Golin, to pilot, the network announced Monday at the Television Critics Association's fall previews.

The project is about a young programmer, Elliot, who suffers from a debilitating anti-social disorder and figures out he can only connect to people by hacking them. However, Elliot's skills land him stuck between the cyber security firm that employs him and the underworld organizations trying to recruit him to bring down corporate America.

"Mr. Robot is a visionary drama," Chris McCumber, president of USA, said in a statement. "It is a very timely and relatable story that captures both the excitement and danger of today's digital world."

In addition to Golin, Chad Hamilton (Breakup at a Wedding) will executive-produce. Comet's Sam Esmail wrote the pilot and will also executive-produce.
