Soon you'll be able to place yourself at the center of your own version of The Walking Dead, thanks to Universal Studios Hollywood. The park is getting a permanent Walking Dead immersive walkthrough this summer, so you'll be able to run from walkers and determine once and for all who is your group's Rick, Michonne, Daryl or Nicholas (sorry if you're the Nicholas).

The park has previously had a Walking Dead attraction as part of its "Halloween Horror Nights" maze, but now it's getting a bigger and better permanent installation. The attraction is being created in collaboration with the show's creative team, including executive producer/director/makeup effects supervisor Greg Nicotero. Nicotero and a team from his special effects company, KNB Efx, will design and sculpt the makeup for the walkers that will chase guests through the maze.

It's going to be as close to the zombie apocalypse as you're ever going to get (barring an actual zombie apocalypse). In addition to human walkers, the attraction will include sophisticated animatronic walkers, detailed set design and costuming, and painstakingly-recreated props from the series.

A definitive ranking of Walking Dead baes

No specific opening date is set, but the walkthrough is under construction now. The Walking Dead attraction will join other new Universal Studios Hollywood attractions including "The Wizarding World of Harry Potter" and the "Fast & Furious - Supercharged" ride.
