Who should win the big prizes?
UPDATE 11-5-18: The winners of TV Guide and CNET's first-ever Halloween costume contest have been announced!
Original post:
TV Guide and CNET's first-ever Halloween costume contest had a ton of submissions, and after diligently poring over so many inspired costumes -- and some not-so-inspired, TBH -- we finally narrowed down the five costumes that will go on to be finalists! (You can check out some of the early favorites here though!)
But now that Halloween is done and all your ghosts, goblins and video game characters have been packed away, it's time to see the costumes that really wowed us and are in the running to score the sweet prizes in the contest.
Here's a reminder of what's at stake:
The rules: Contestants must be 18 years or older to enter. Costumes should be of your favorite character. Contestants must be solo to win: no groups, pets or babies, please. This contest is only valid in the U.S., Puerto Rico and Canada.
The contest occurs in three phases.
Phase 1: Submit your photo before Wednesday, Oct. 31 at 11:59 p.m. PT to be considered. (Please note submissions have closed.)
Phase 2: The judges will select five finalists according to the following criteria:
- Most interesting (50 percent)
- Originality (25 percent)
- Relation to theme (15 percent)
- Aesthetically pleasing (10 percent)
Phase 3: Once CNET and TV Guide have selected the finalists, the remaining contestants will be notified, kicking off the voting period wherein finalists will rally friends and family to compete for the most votes. Contestants whose photos get the most votes between Thursday, Nov. 1 at 2 p.m. PT and Sunday, Nov. 4 at 11:59 p.m. PT will be crowned the winner!
