Former TV Chef Pleads Not Guilty to Attempted Murder Charges

Former Food Network star Juan Carlos Cruz pleaded not guilty to charges of soliciting homeless men to murder his wife, according to The Associated Press.

Cruz, who hosted Calorie Commando in 2004, was arrested last Thursday after a man contacted the police and said that Cruz had tried to hire him. The 48-year-old is expected back in court on June 23.

Calls to the Santa Monica police department and district attorney's office were not immediately returned.
