Tracy Morgan's Lawyer: Comedian May Never Be the Same After Severe Brain Injury Sustained in Car Crash

Comedian Tracy Morgan may never be "the Tracy Morgan he once was" following his June 7 car wreck, Morgan's lawyer told the Associated Press Tuesday. Morgan suffered a slew of physical injuries from the six-car collision, including a severe brain injury that is hindering the 30 Rock star's recovery.

"He's fighting to get better, and if there's a chance for him to be back to the Tracy Morgan he once was, he's going to try to do that," Benedict Morelli, Morgan's lawyer said. "But we just don't know because of the severity of the injuries that he sustained and the fact that he had such a severe brain injury."

Morgan was in a limo van returning from a performance in Delaware this past June when a Walmart truck slammed into the van, killing Morgan's friend James "Jimmy Mack" McNair and sending three others to the hospital.

Morgan's lawyer and Walmart lawyers were in a New Jersey court Tuesday for a scheduling conference to discuss Morgan's lawsuit against Walmart.

"When you have a traumatic brain injury it takes a very long time to find out how you're going to do and how much you're going to recover," Morelli said. "You just don't know. So that's where he is. He's still fighting and trying to live his life at the same time and trying to get better, and he's just not better. We're hoping and praying to get him back to where he was. But the jury's out."

Morelli previously said that he doesn't know if Morgan will ever be able to perform again.
