John Krasinski Is Officially the New Jack Ryan in Upcoming Amazon Series

Tom Clancy's character is getting a reboot on the streaming service

Amazon has greenlit Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan, a 10-episode reboot of the iconic spy character starring The Office's Jon Krasinski, the streaming service announced Tuesday.

Jack Ryan will follow the titular CIA analyst as he tries to unravel a global terrorism plot. Planned shooting locations include the U.S., Europe and Africa. Producers include Lost's Carlton Cuse and 13 Hours' Michael Bay.

The character Jack Ryan first appeared in Tom Clancy's debut novel The Hunt for Red October, and has become the center of one of the most successful book and film franchises ever. Jack Ryan has been portrayed by Alec Baldwin, Harrison Ford, Ben Affleck and Chris Pine. This will be the first Jack Ryan television series.

The series will be available on Amazon Prime. A premiere date is yet to be determined.
