Tiger Woods and Elin Nordegren Divorce

Tiger Woods and Elin Nordegren have divorced.
The couple's divorce became official Monday in Florida's Bay County Circuit Court, their lawyers said in a statement. Terms of the divorce were not disclosed, other than that they will share parenting of their children, daughter Sam, 3, and son Charlie, 1.

"We are sad that our marriage is over and we wish each other the very best for the future," the couple said in a statement. "While we are no longer married, we are the parents of two wonderful children and their happiness has been, and will always be, of paramount importance to both of us.

"Once we came to the decision that our marriage was at an end, the primary focus of our amicable discussions has been to ensure their future well-being," the statement continued. "The weeks and months ahead will not be easy for them as we adjust to a new family situation, which is why our privacy must be a principal concern."

The divorce comes nine months after the golfer crashed his SUV outside their Florida home, leading to admissions that he had cheated on his wife and a loss of endorsement deals. Woods — whose participation in a tournament typically meant a TV ratings boost — took a five-month hiatus to go to rehab before coming back at the Masters in April. Overall, he has struggled since returning to the game.

Woods, 34, and Nordegren, a 30-year-old Swedish former model and au pair, met in 2001 through Swedish golfer Jesper Parnevik. They married in October 2004.
