With the mystery of Jack's (Milo Ventimiglia) death behind us, This Is Us has to shift focus and next season that could mean a lot more Miguel (Jon Huertas).

We know relatively little about Miguel and Rebecca's (Mandy Moore) modern romance except for the fact it started 10 years after Jack's death, Rebecca finds Miguel funny and he gives Rebecca space on Super Bowl Sunday. The series' third season will explore more of their relationship to help still-reluctant fans to understand Miguel is not -- and has never been -- the bad guy.

"This season we've got some cool stuff coming up. In the next season, we really open it up," Huertas told TV Guide. "There are still some people that still need some convincing."

The show will also take some time to explore Miguel's relationship with the Big 3, more specifically his bond with Randall (Sterling K. Brown) and Kate (Chrissy Metz).

"We'll get more into Kate and Randall react to the news of Rebecca and Miguel hanging out again. Next season I think we'll see more of that," Huertas said.

We can assume that Randall is pretty cool with the situation thanks to Season 1's "Pilgrim Rick" episode, but Miguel has a tougher road ahead with Kate.

"With Kate, [she] and Miguel have a kind of stand-offish sort of thing. She's going to support Kevin because they're twins. We just haven't explored too much of that yet," he said.

This Is Us resumes Season 2 on Tuesday, Feb. 27 at 9/8c on NBC.
