While we have finally solved the mystery of Jack's (Milo Ventimiglia) death on This Is Us, there's still a lot about the Pearson family patriarch we don't know, including his experiences in Vietnam.

We know Jack fought in the Vietnam War, and thanks to a faded photo in Season 2, we know he fought alongside his younger brother Nicky (Michael Angarano). Now, thanks to a behind-the-scenes video from showrunner Dan Fogelman, we've got our first look at Jack back in his war days. The short video, posted to Twitter Thursday, shows a very intense looking Ventimiglia in military fatigues (complete with helmet and gun) leaning out the side of a chopper. If you've got a thing for a man in uniform who will also one day grow to be the most huggable father and husband you'll ever know, this video was made for you.

This Is Us: Say Hello to Jack's Little Brother!

Season 3 of This Is Us will explore Jack's time in Vietnam with Nicky, who has been mysteriously absent from the first two seasons of the show. That doesn't exactly bode well for Nicky's future beyond the war, but we're still eagerly awaiting this storyline. Get your Kleenex ready.

This Is Us returns for Season 3 Tuesday, Sept. 25 at 9/8c on NBC.
