The Walking Dead's Jeffrey Dean Morgan Would Do a Negan Movie in a Heartbeat

Could the big bad get a spin-off flick?

Earlier this month, AMC CEO Josh Sapan said that the network has plans to keep the Walking Dead franchise going well into the future, and that those plans are not just for TV. According to Bloomberg, those plans include movies that would create a Star Trek-like film and TV universe.

And the storyboard for one of those movies may have been published in 2016 in the form of a standalone comic limited series called Here's Negan! that tells the tragic origin story of The Walking Dead's biggest bad. "Here's Negan!" sort of functions as a movie spin-off to the comic series' TV show, so it would make sense to do it as an actual movie companion to the show. And Negan actor Jeffrey Dean Morgan is down.

"For two years I've talked to [Walking Dead chief content officer Scott] Gimple about it," Morgan told reporters during a visit to The Walking Dead's Georgia set last week. "I certainly hope. I know that they've talked about doing all sorts of other things, movies and whatever else. I don't know too much about it. I know it could be an exciting opportunity to tell that story."

And he knows that if they came to him and said, "Hey Jeff, let's do a Here's Negan movie," he'd say, "Oh yeah."

In the meantime, Negan will be seen on Season 9 of The Walking Dead, which premieres Sunday, Oct. 7 at 9/8c on AMC.
